The Velvet Hatch Egg Competition

The Velvet Hatch!
Velvet's Egg Decorating Competition!

Some examples of decorated eggs The Velvet Snatch

Since I often refer to myself as "A Decorative Egg" I thought it would be fun to have my own egg decorating competition to raise some money for the wonderful Charlie & Carter Foundation. You can take part no matter what your age or where you are in the world, all you need is an egg, and a dream! It's only a £5 donation to enter and the winner (decided by little old me!) will win a fabulous prize!

How to enter:

  1. The Egg! Get yourself a boiled egg (if you can't or if you're vegan or such you can use something similar to an egg in shape and size). If you're young please make sure to get an adult to help you boiling your egg.
  2. Decorate It! Decorate your egg however you wish but nothing obscene or offensive please or you might get excluded from the competition! Be as creative as you can!
  3. Get Your Code! Click on the button below or here to donate your £5 entry fee and you'll be given a unique code. If you're not automatically given a code (we're still building this feature!) then please send an email to egg@thevelvetsnatch.com with the name on your donation and we'll get you a code sent over!
  4. Show It Off! When you're happy with your egg, take as many photos or videos of it as you like making sure that your unique entry code is on display and readable somewhere in the photos/videos (either write it on a piece of paper and have it next to your egg or add it to the corner of the photo afterwards). Then post it all on Instagram or TikTok with the hashtag #TheVelvetHatch and tag me @thevelvetsnatch in them! If you don't have Instagram or don't want to show off your work publically then you can email your photos and a description of your work to egg@thevelvetsnatch.com with your name and entry code in the subject line.
  5. Be Proud! Share and show off your wonderful eggy creation and be proud that you've helped a good cause with your fabulous work!

The rules:

  1. At least some of your egg has to be on display in your post, you can't hide it in a box or something!
  2. You have to physically decoate your egg, it can't be a drawing or a digitally generated or manipulated image.
  3. You can post lots of photos and videos of your egg but only the first one on your post will be judged, so make sure it's the best angle and that we can see everything there is to see!
  4. Make sure that your post is accessible, if you're posting your entry on Instagram then make sure you account isn't locked.
  5. Closing date: all entries must be posted before midnight GMT (British time!) on the 31st of July 2024.

The judging:

Once all the entries are in, some time in the first week of August I'll gather them all together and organise a live judging stream where I'll show off every entry alongside the entrant's Instagram handle and pick out my top 10 and an overall winner. The grand prize is still to be decided, but I'll make sure it's something lovely!
